100 Days of Leo Burnett, the Midwestern Master of Mascots DAY 14

Here’s today’s Leo:

Regardless of the moral issue, dishonesty in advertising has proved very unprofitable.” — Leo Burnett

In The Art of Writing Advertising | Conversations with Masters of the Craft, AdAge Interviewer Denis Higgins talks to Leo Burnett:

Q: They didn’t have much journalism in school?

A: Oh, not in a formal way, but we had some very knowledgeable professors, one of whom was a particular influence, Dr Fred Newton Scott. And he encouraged all of us to subscribe to the New York World, which in those days was a brilliantly written newspaper. This was back in 1911, 1912, 1913 — along in there.
