“Facebook Home” — the first SuperApp (app of apps)
It was a big week in the mobile app world – Facebook launched “Facebook Home”, which is not so much a “Facebook Phone” but more like a next generation “Facebook SuperApp” – an app of apps, which is an interesting and potentially revolutionary evolution of the app ecosystem. Today, you cannot single download “sets of apps” in an integrated experience. Facebook has just changed that…
I would also observe that after Facebook’s earlier missteps in betting on HTML5 (see this great article from readwrite titled “The Facebook Phone & The Triumph Of Native Apps Over HTML5”: Link), they have nicely overcompensated by creating an amazing native app experience. It’s Android only, so this must be extremely worrisome for Apple.
