It’s going to be an exciting 2016!

January is always one of my favorite months of the year because we do something at Microsoft call Mid-year Review (or MYR to the acronymnically inclined) which is a globally run business review of all subsidiaries that is sort of a cross between a root canal and a pep talk. It’s a time of reflection and connection within Microsoft, and I really love the process — we’re a very self-critical company, and at MYR we’re at our self-critical best.

This January will be more intense than usual because Suzy is doing a big-deal Industry Reading for Chick Flick the Musical. It will be in NYC at Ripley-Grier Studios (520 8th Avenue) on Thursday, January 14th at 3pm; and Friday, January 15th at 11am.

It’s directed by Mary Catherine Burke and choreographed by Tiffany Green, and features Danette Holden (Shrek the MusicalAnnie); Jennifer C Johnson (Volleygirls the Musical); Alli Mauzey (WickedHairspray; Cry Baby); and Megan Sikora (Curtains; Promises, Promises; How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying). It’s 90 minutes, no intermission and it’s done as a standard Equity 29-hour reading. Producers are David Carpenter and John Pinckard of Tilted Windmills Theatricals, and the Music Director is Suzy’s long-time collaborator Seth Weinstein. Vocal arrangements and orchestrations are being done by Frank Galgano & Matt Castle and they’ve been a great new addition to the team!

Everyone is working really hard to make sure it’s the best version of the show it can be, and it’s exciting watching the process unfold from the sidelines.

It’s so wonderful to watch the journey of a new musical. As Suzy’s husband I get the unusual privilege of hearing the first stirrings of a concept, the first notes on the piano, and the first words from the character’s mouths and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m excited to see the team continue their journey!
